 Mona where is the sona (Gold)…….yeah let’s talk business …. or say the real professional stuff ……….let’s talk about the virtual club of professional’s where all suited up people meet and discuss various professional things, their aspects & issues…in a very professional way…(may be we have gone too far… all of them don’t wear suits….& it doesn’t have any setting like a traditional club….. but it reminds me of that only….)

Yupp….you are right we are talking about LinkedIn which has a very strong user base of 500 million users….Launched in 2003 and grew exponentially in over 200 countries & territories…………a huge number to start with for a community of professionals & companies located in different part of world.

Over the time Linkedin has evolved into a professional network where people started posting about the job…company… achievements…for job search etc. & companies started considering it as a talent hiring platform to get new recruits…it’s a collaborative professional setup where people could share their views; discuss ideas, industry trends etc….but how all this matter to you……???? why staying active on linkedin is important…???? …..this is what we wanna tell you……..how being active on this platform could help you in your professional career.

 

Let’s begin………. updated your profile picture….showing the best of you…….keep updating your career timeline as you grow up on your professional front with advancement in your position & company…….add exact update about your education so your classmates & alumni could find you. Don’t forget to add your current location to grab the opportunities in locations around you. In the skill section mention your strengths & abilities……it could be soft skills or technical skills….whatever you are good at…….and the most important don’t forget to add the summary……it is the very first thing someone would look into & would form a opinion about you…….hmmmm…..handle this section with care……. :)’

 

Now as you are all jazzed up with your profile….. the next thing to do is to form credible relations……(what a big deal huh….just have to send n number of request and approve or reject the links form request page… & all done….wow I m genius……)……a..a..a..a its not that simple my friend……don’t add everyone you find & start chatting up with them….or you would end up crowding your profile with ppl you seldom interact….instead start by adding the people who know you in real life. Then ask them to introduce you to the people in their network so to be seen as trustworthy…….. Don’t worry if initially it seems tough to connect with people or your invitation to connect is not responded. This platforms works on strong sense of trust & zero tolerance to spamming behavior. ………. don’t be too informal………people don’t like it when you start posting your vacation pictures or drunk scenes…….be professional with linkedin around….

 

What is of great interest on LinkedIn is that you can actually send In mails (Kind of mails) to the people to connect, to send a pitch proposal or an appreciation note for the work they are doing on professional front
